Weight Watchers Brand Produce?

I saw this as I walked past the grocery store the other evening. It was so strange that I had to show you! I am not opposed to Weight Watchers marketing produce, but I always think of them as being a processed food company, aside from the whole diet thing. This kind of surprised me.

  1. It is so sad that people need to be told by Weight Watchers that they can eat real food. Has our society really lost all knowledge about what food is and is not?

  2. I think this isn't so much weight watchers marketing produce, as it is the produce farmers marketing weight watchers endorsement of them. I think of it as more similar to when Vidalia Onions partnered with Dreamworks for Shrek marketing on their onions. When people are doing something, they get blinders on, and don't always put the thought into what they are doing.

  3. This is completely stupid and unnecessary. Why do you need a weight watchers watermelon? Is it special in any way? No but it includes a stamp so we'll charge you extra for it. Pricing aside, what’s the added value? I couldn’t find a produce section on their website so there’s no valid reason to buy this.

  4. The new Weight Watcher's plan now allows almost all fruits and vegetables to be included in the plan without having to count it against your daily points allotment. This is GREAT news for people who have been on the program and have avoided them because of the point count. Now members are encouraged to eat whole, natural foods. I think it's all good.

  5. @ Aimee, I couldn't agree more. I had a group leader tell me once (many times actually) that no one ever got to Weight Watchers because they ate too many apples. Even with the inherent issues with fructose, whole fruit is too filing for most people to eat too much. There may be some who over consume fruit, but the vast majority just won't.
I just found this funny because I always think of WW as a company selling caramel covered peanut bars and justifying them as snacks. So funny!
